Searching for Full

Part confessional memoir and part revelatory exploration of the cutting-edge science surrounding GLP-1s and disordered eating, this is a wry, no-holds-barred account of a life shaped by bingeing and purging—until GLP-1s changed everything.

What if you could turn off the noise in your head that’s been controlling your life for decades—and all it took was one shot a week?

Paige Gordon binged for the first time when she was eleven—and for years afterward, she didn’t look back. It wasn’t that overeating made her feel better; she was simply ravenous. All the time. And as she got older, that feeling of constant hunger didn’t go away, but the feeling that accompanied it—shame—grew stronger. So she developed a new habit to go with the bingeing: purging. And once she started, nothing could make her stop. Not therapy, or Prozac, or the various inpatient programs she enrolled in, or any other traditional treatment Western medicine threw her way. And certainly not the love of the many men—good, flawed, or violent—she met along the way.

Searching for Full is a story of a life shaped by bulimia—a story of a girl with negligent and eventually absentee parents; a story of the love she tried to find elsewhere; a story of seeking control, and finding only pain. But Paige’s story doesn’t end there. Because one day, thirty years into living with her disorder, she heard a podcast about GLP-1s. How they could turn off the “food noise” in your head. And that’s when her journey truly began.
