Kim Congdon has never been entirely sure she remembers her life correctly. To be fair, she had a lot going on.

In Blunt Force Trauma, the stand-up comedian looks back at a childhood filled with chaos, bad decisions, and stories that would be easier to dismiss as fiction if there weren’t so many witnesses.

Adulthood wasn’t exactly a course correction. Bad relationships and worse judgment eventually led to stand-up comedy, where Kim discovered she’d been preparing for the job her entire life.

Now she’s going back through it all. What happened, what she remembers, and the considerable distance between the two.

Darkly funny, intimate, and occasionally difficult to believe, Blunt Force Trauma is a look into one comedian’s life.
