"Can you remain tranquil until right action occurs by itself?"

“Would it be enough if I could never give you peace?”

Is it a quote from the Tao or a Taylor Swift lyric?

At first glance, the Tao Te Ching and Taylor Swift might seem like an unlikely pair—one is a poetic text of ancient Chinese philosophy, the other a modern pop icon. But look closer, and you’ll find an invisible thread of wisdom, transformation, and words that hold the power to inspire generations.

The Tao is the general life force that flows through everything in the Universe—or in Taylor terms, “forever going with the flow.” The Tao cannot be described with words alone; it must be experienced and lived. From her fearless rise as a teenage songwriter to the soft power of reclaiming her music, Taylor’s journey embodies many core Taoist principles: strength through softness, presence over perfection, and becoming without forcing.

The Tao of Taylor Swift explores 13 Taoist principles through the lens of Taylor’s lyrics, life, and legacy, inviting you, Dear Reader, to harness both the spirit of Tao and the essence of Taylor and leverage them to live a happy, free, and balanced life, mostly at the same time.
