How to Play Hockey Like a Viking God

When a boy gets his hands on a legendary hockey stick, his life takes a turn right out of Norse mythology in this action-packed, illustrated, younger middle grade fantasy adventure perfect for fans of The Academy series by T.Z. Layton and Mac B., Kid Spy.

Eleven-year-old Rune lives in a tiny frozen hockey town, and he has a secret so big and so important even he doesn’t know it. Yet.

But when he decides to borrow his famous great-grandfather’s stick, he uncovers an ancient mystery connecting his town and missing father to the Viking gods.

Rune isn’t the biggest kid on the ice. He isn’t as skilled as his two best friends, Elf and Hays, or his nemesis, the prankster-bully Lukus. But none of that matters anymore. Because the moment Rune touches the stick and awakens its strange powers, dark forces begin to appear.

Secrets are lurking everywhere, and soon Rune, Elf, and Hays’s battles on the ice have higher stakes than ever before.
