Heartwreck

In a small town in Tamil Nadu, mayhem ensues when English professor Sriranga Perumal is suddenly struck by romance.

Sasikala is a much younger professor in a different college, but when an Orientation Course brings the two together, an unexpected affair blossoms. They exchange texts, long phone calls, and sweet nothings. But all is brought to a halt when these are inter-cepted by Sriranga’s wife, Kamatchi.

Ashamed of Sriranga, Kamatchi decides to take charge of matters and end the affair on her hapless husband’s behalf. But alas, no amount of coaxing, cajoling, or threatening deters the indomitable Sasikala.

Can a cyber-affair survive as such, or does it succumb to the strains of a ‘real’ marriage? How do the two teachers of literature negotiate the emotions they teach in classrooms every day? In this sharp, hilarious new novel by Imayam, the home and the world collide explosively, locked in a fierce, no-holds-barred match.
