Chess for Junkies

Ray Fagan never thought he'd survive Prison — but just one week after his release, he's praying he hadn't.

Three days to his release from prison, suicidal junkie Ray Fagan’s got a plan. He’s gonna steal dealer Mouse’s heroin from right under his nose and walk out the door with it. And once out, he’s gonna stick on some 'Lizzy' and send it all down his veins. He’s served his sentence, but now he must atone for his mortal sin. For what he did to the 'Hammer girl'. But then they move him! Into a cell with ‘Noisy’, the mute, chess-obsessed psychopath everyone’s terrified of — even the screws. But it gets worse. A new arrival, Carney, recognises Ray as the dealer who sold to his dead brother and attacks him viciously, but ‘Noisy’ steps in to save him and pays with his life. Ray has been saved. Spared … But why? A dying ‘Noisy’ gives Ray a letter. It’s written by his daughter, Maria, telling him his other daughter, Cassie, is missing. Once out, Ray sets out to repay his debt.
