Bookshop Buddies

A beautifully illustrated celebration of the dogs and cats who call independent bookstores home.

Bookshop Buddies is a heartwarming celebration of the cats and dogs who make independent bookstores feel like home. Filled with charming watercolor portraits and delightful stories, this cozy gift book invites readers into beloved indies across the United States to meet the furry “staff members” who nap in sunny windows, lounge across stacks of books, greet customers at the door, and occasionally cause a little mischief among the shelves.

Featuring more than original watercolor-like portraits, Bookshop Buddies captures the unique personalities of unforgettable bookstore pets from from more than twenty-five stores stores, including Eartha Kitt of Wild Rumpus Books, who curls up among the classics; Tiny the Usurper of Community Bookstore, a tiny cat with a very big presence; Ricky T of Subterranean Books, famous for his dapper sweaters; and dozens more lovable companions.

Alongside playful facts and behind-the-scenes anecdotes from booksellers, this irresistible collection is a love letter to indie bookstores, book-loving communities, and the animals who make these spaces so welcoming. It's the perfect gift for cat lovers, dog lovers, devoted readers, and anyone who has ever been happily distracted from book browsing by a furry friend.
