Red Flag

Author of the “fast-paced” and “explosive” (Mystery and Suspense Magazine) Rifle Season, Pat Kelly returns with an all new high-stakes and unique tale from the wild.

An infamous Russian war criminal’s body is discovered by hikers high in a remote valley in Western Colorado at the height of summer. The fire danger is extreme, and the wilderness is a tinderbox waiting to ignite.

His two sons—Jovo and Milan, psycho Serb criminals of the highest order—arrive in Colorado to identify the body. But when the coroner reveals that their father was killed by a bullet, not an avalanche, the brothers realize someone got to him first. They descend on the area with one goal: to settle scores.

They’ve brought with them a crew of hardened Serb special operations mercenaries and an elite Russian manhunter tasked with tracking down the killer.

What unfolds is a unique and brutal game of kill-or-be-killed, played out across a bone-dry wilderness perpetually on the verge of erupting into a full-blown mega wildfire. As the hunt intensifies and the landscape grows more volatile, man and nature race toward the same inevitable explosion.
