Matter of Great ConCERN: A Sci-Fi Novel

IN SPACE, NO ONE CARES IF YOU'RE A NOBEL LAUREATE.

2037, Geneva. Prof. William "Willy" Wegmann, the eccentric scientific director of CERN, anxiously waits to hear whether his groundbreaking study on interplanetary communication has won him the coveted Nobel prize. But when aliens finally make first contact using their own advanced particle accelerator, it's time for Willy Wegmann to put his money where his mouth is.

Seizing the opportunity that will get him closer to the prize, Willy volunteers to lead a special expedition of scientists and their significant others (who just really need a vacation from Earth) to the nearby sun, Proxima Centauri, to discover whether these extraterrestrials truly come in peace.

But when the crew finally approaches their destination, they soon discover something is very wrong. And with more than just his reputation on the line, but the entire Earth's fate, Willy must act fast to save the day, and his chances at glory. With lightyears between them and home, will they make it in time to prevent total disaster? But more importantly, if Earth is annihilated, is Willy still eligible for a Nobel prize?

A perfect blend of science with a side of sarcasm, A Matter of Great ConCERN wittily questions whether progress can sometimes go too far. A must-read for fans of Douglas Adams, Jon Scalzi, and Andy Weir.
