Life, Death & Domicile

Part legal thriller, part untold Howard Hughes history, Life, Death & Domicile is attorney Rick Harrison's firsthand account of the eight-year battle over the billionaire's estate—and the disturbing evidence his investigation uncovered about the men who controlled Hughes during the final years of his life.

On April 5, 1976, Howard Hughes—the aviator, industrialist, Hollywood mogul, and one of the richest men in the world—was flown from Acapulco toward Houston in catastrophic physical condition. He was seventy years old, severely emaciated and dehydrated, dependent on drugs, and had been hidden from public view for years. He died before reaching the hospital.

His death was only the beginning.

Drawing on Harrison's firsthand experience, testimony, depositions, medical evidence, court battles, and encounters with the remarkable cast of characters surrounding Hughes, Life, Death & Domicile: The Kidnapping of Howard Hughes tells the story of a young lawyer handed the case of a lifetime—and the disturbing world he discovered behind the locked doors surrounding one of America's most famous billionaires.

Part courtroom drama, part investigative history, and part legal memoir, it is the story of the battle for Howard Hughes's fortune—and the fight to determine who controlled the man before everyone began fighting over what he left behind.
