Young Fredric and Deoran

A young shepherd discovers he's the heir to a conquered kingdom, but it's a deaf girl standing fearless at the edge of a cliff who teaches him what true courage really means. Set in the wild hills of post-Alfredian Britain, this is a story about identity, inheritance, and the kind of love that doesn't need a single spoken word.

Inheritance From Kingdoms Past, Book II

He carries a king's secret. She speaks without a single word.

Young Fredric has always known the rhythm of a shepherd's life. He's proud to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. But one freezing night, huddled in a cave after rescuing lost sheep from a blizzard, his grandfather finally tells him the truth. Their family is not what he believed. A lost kingdom. A hidden crown. An ancient medallion bearing the image of a Roman conqueror, sewn into a baby's tunic centuries ago to preserve a bloodline that was never meant to disappear.

Before Fredric can make sense of any of it, a charging wild boar on a remote hillside brings him face to face with someone he never expected: a fearless girl named Deoran, clutching a trembling lamb to her chest at the edge of a cliff. Deoran cannot hear. She cannot speak. But her courage needs no words.

Now Fredric must decide who he really wants to be.

As the three ancient objects of the legacy draw closer together, the mystery of their Roman origins deepens, setting the stage for the trilogy's final chapter.
