In his art there are many layers of deeper meaning. A key metaphorical figure is the extinct Tasmanian devil – a 'different' and untameable animal that was demonised and almost exterminated during the colonial era.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e The publication also presents the monumental drawing \u003ci\u003eSketch for a Century\u003c\/i\u003e (2005), which has not been shown since it was exhibited in the National Gallery in 2005. It fills an entire wall from floor to ceiling, extending 26 meters lengthwise, and it contains a cosmos of mythical beings, fables and Roman gods. The drawing is a reaction to a one-sided, postmodern intellectualism.
